Innovative wall-mounted pipe clamps avoid thermal bridgesPractical solutions for the fixing of pipe clamps at thermal isolated building façades lead to clean connected walls and avoid thermal bridges
To reach an easy, quick, and especially safe fixing of the rain gutter at a building façade, KtS Kunststofftechnik GmbH, Werne has developed two new solutions. These solutions do not only avoid unclean and not-weatherproofed weak-points at the façade, but also avoid thermal bridges. Due to energy-saving activities and as a contribution to reduce the CO² emissions, more and more existing buildings and projects are covered with thermal insulation façades. The fixing of pipe clamps has been critical in many ways. Fixing the pipe clamps with the chuck was difficult, unsafe, and it was a thermal bridge directly into the wall. Furthermore, there was the problem that by wrapping the chuck through the plaster, parts of it appear to break. The provisionary repair of the hole leaded to poor-fixed chucks and offered a weak-point in the façade. In addition, fixing of the chucks into the wall was critically, too, due to the insulation. |

Today´s technics are to fix the pipe clamps into the insulation or directly into the wall. KtS Kunststofftechnik, Werne developed two solutions to solve the above mentioned problems. The first solution is a further developed combination of existing products on the market. KtS made a whole package out of the products. This consists of the KtS IS-plug, a special screw, a cover cap, and a protective sleeve to cover the thread of the screw. After fixing the IS-plug into the insulation (e.g. styrofoam, hard foam boards etc.) the screw can be turned into the adjusted thread of the plug. For making this process easier, there is a Torx-drive at the head of the screw. Because of the protective sleeve it is no problem to plaster the façade afterwards – the thread of the screw is protected by the sleeve. After plastering the cover cap protects the drill hole from all weather conditions and gives a clean connecting to the wall. The outside metric M10 thread of the screw gives the opportunity to fix any pipe clamp with M10 thread to fasten the rain clutter. Advantage of this method is not only the non-drilling into the wall, but also the easy and quick fixing directly into the insulation. Because of being covered by the IS-plug and the insulation, there is no possibility for the screw to be a thermal bridge. The on the market well-known KtS IS-plug guarantees best fixings into the insulation. |

If there is the necessity of fixing the pipe clamp directly into the wall, there is the possibility of using the KtS-longshaft plug with threaded pin This solution, which was developed together with a plumber expert, is based on a fixed anchoring through the insulation directly into the wall. It consists of the KtS-longshaft plug, the self-cutting threaded pin and a cover cap. The fixed lamellas directly under the head of the plug avoid an overwinding and fix the plug into the insulation. The self-cutting threaded pin guarantees an optimal spread of the plug. This pin has got a Torx-drive at the head for easy handling, too. The effective anchoring depth of 90mm guarantees security and a safe fixing into the wall. If there is a fixing directly into aluminum- or steelgrounds necessary, the self-cutting threaded pin can be used without the longshaft plug, too. Through the outside metric M10 thread an easy anchoring of the wall-mounted pipe clamp is possible. This method does not only avoid thermal bridges, but also guarantees a constant loading beginning at the top of the plug up to the very end. The delivered cover cap drains off rain water through its special form in front of the façade and, therefore, avoids enter from rain and other weather conditions into the insulation and the wall. Furthermore, it covers the drill hole perfectly. The deliverable dimensions of 10 x 180, 10 x 240, and 10 x 280 mm make this product useable for nearly every insulation on the market.
